Why Choose Termite Bait Treatment Using Ecological Bait

Why Choose Termite Bait Treatment...

About termites, it is worth mentioning that they are one of the pests that most plague the population and that they can cause greater damage because they feed voraciously on the cellulose that our wood contains, endangering even our physical activity when they are inside. the beams of a house. The spring and autumn seasons are when they tend to have more activity and if we do not act quickly we can have serious consequences.

For this reason, we must analyze where the problem comes from and apply the most appropriate treatment to combat them.

Our procedure begins with a detailed inspection of the exterior and interior environment to decide which system is the most recommendable for the control of xylophagous insects and, in particular, termites. The diagnosis of the building must be carried out in its entire structure, specifying all the inaccessible and uncontrolled areas. Our technicians begin to inspect the pathologies present in the wood and factors such as humidity or temperature that positively influence the presence of termites; For this, we use materials such as sound amplifiers, punches, hygrometers (moisture meters), and flashlights that help us in the inspection.

It is always important to start from the lowest parts towards the upper floors since the termites begin to attack in that direction and it is extremely important to find the maximum possible points of activity to proceed with their elimination as soon as possible.

Generally, unless sufficient points of contact are not detected or the building is under construction, or bait trays cannot be installed, it is always advisable to choose a system for intercepting and eliminating termites using baits.

This system is the one that TECNO recommends to combat these small xylophagous insects since thanks to it the subterranean termite colony is eliminated. which is found underground without the need to use products that are toxic to humans or animals, to the detriment of the chemical treatment with an injection that protects the wood for a few years but the termite mound is not eliminated.

The key to the fight using growth-inhibiting baits lies in the exclusive way of feeding termites called Trophalaxia. According to this mechanism, the workers transmit the assimilated food from their stomach to other individuals in the colony through the mouth or via the rectum.

A termite colony is made up of various categories of individuals called castes (king, queen, soldier, workers). The workers are constantly prospecting for food (cellulose) to feed the rest of the colony and as soon as they detect an abundant food source it can be the beams of a house or door frames that leave a scent trail to attract other workers and then our houses are filled with these tireless little wood eaters.

Our work consists of detecting the areas where the worker termites are feeding and intercepting them with a bait composed of 99.75% cellulose and 0.25% insecticide active matter so that they stop eating wood and feed on it to subsequently transmit it throughout the colony, causing the death of the termites. all individuals.

These are the different phases of the treatment:

Inspection

In the inspection of a building to detect termites, woodworms, fungi, and other xylophagous organisms there are a couple of essential tools for the technician who carries out the work. The machinery used acts as ears and eyes to help us detect the activity inside the wood, which otherwise would keep the information we are looking for hidden. Thanks to the skills of a specialist technician and a specific device to listen to them, we managed to locate the points where they are feeding.

Installation of baits with cellulose and insecticide active ingredient

Once the contact points with the presence of active termites have been located, the bait holders are placed in the affected wood, which will allow the appropriate control visits to be carried out to check the state of consumption of the insecticide bait and replace it until it is verified that the termite has been eliminated.

Bait with cellulose-containing the active ingredient is only used in the points where active termites have been heard; in the rest, softwood is used to attract them and as soon as there is contact, the bait is introduced.

As soon as the bait has been placed, the termites are attracted to the cellulose and stop feeding on the much harder and less palatable wood.

Maintenance and surveillance program

Thanks to the installation of outdoor bait boxes installed on the perimeter of the house, it is possible to check over the years if a new termite mound has formed and controlled it before it enters the house again.

Every month a review is carried out to verify the consumption of bait at each control point until the elimination of the termite mound is verified and certified. At this point, you can already remove the forest holders found inside.

From this moment on, a surveillance plan can be established, since thanks to the exterior bait holders that are found around the house, if a new colony were to form over the years, it could be detected and eliminated before it reaches or affects the house again.
